Buddy's Pizza Mural on brick- Shelby Township, MI
This mural was painted in my studio on a thin material and installed on the brick using a special adhesive which pulls the material into the bricks.
The image is based on the original Buddy's Pizza in Detroit, which is still in operation today.

The Motts murals are installed on the second level of Motts in the Emergency Room. The murals took four months to complete.
They are seven feet tall and 180 feet long down two hallways and into an alcove. There are two more phases to the project yet to come.

Murals for Motts Children's Hospital
CES Healing Walls
Motts Children's Hospital asked for proposals on how to make their procedure rooms less scary for their little patients.
I finally solved it by coming up with a logical explanation for why the room looks the way it does with all the instruments
and monitors, etc. Seeing it through a kid’s eyes, I decided it could pass as a submarine control center. The portals contain
colorful fish and interested creatures looking into the room to see how things are going. The portals were installed high enough to be seen by
someone lying on the bed. I know that if I was being rolled into a submarine, it would be far less scary than being rolled
into a procedure room....and kind of cool too. These are a couple of the completed portals
for one procedure room. The remainder of the installation carried the underwater theme throughout.
Here's what the staff is saying about the CES Healing Walls:
"These are amazing! Since installation, we have used the Resus bays a ton … we have received an enormous amount of positive
feedback from our patients, families, and outside services. This has been a very positive experience for all those working in CES."

"Artist Katherine Larson and I met early on Monday to install the first stage of her mural project in CES. These are in the two procedure rooms.
The colors are truly stunning. Staff all seemed thrilled and we're all excited for the next phase which Katherine is working on now.
I want to thank… Katherine Larson for her great work and professionalism."

Central Drug, Charlevoix, Michigan
Painted over a 3 month period in Katherine's studio in Ann Arbor, this mural is installed on a brick wall in downtown
Charlevoix. The panels are aluminum attached with furring strips to the building and coated with a protective
top coat to allow it to weather Michigan winters. The mural is a progressive time piece, starting with the first panel to the
left in 1910, the lighthouse circa 1925, the bridge as it first appeared in 1949, Round Lake as it would have looked circa 1950,
and a tribute to Earl Young's mushroom house on the final panel, circa 1970. The stone walls are also based on Young's unique
style. The mural was painted in sections in a space just 15 ft wide by 10 feet tall. The day it was installed it was the first time
all sections of the mural were together.

Other Murals by Katherine:
Campus Inn, Ann Arbor
This mural of former President, Gerald Ford also includes former UM coach, Bo Schembechler. It can be viewed on the exterior
of Campus Inn from the front entrance to the parking lot off Huron Street. These photos were taken from a lift in order to
show the details in the mural.
Motts Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor
The "Wall of Courage" is a backdrop for photos of children that have spent time in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The original mural was painted in 2006. When the hospital moved to the new facility, the staff and parents of the children
asked that the mural be recreated. "It's an honor to have my work as a backdrop for these courageous children
and I hope that it brings hope and joy to those who visit it."
