Sample Client Work

When a business becomes my client, I consider much more than what a letterhead or logo is going to look like. I do everything in my power to make that business successful. From catalogs and packaging, delivery trucks, retail environments, and ad design, I can create an image perfectly targeted to the right audience. Since opening my design studio over 20 years ago, I have gained experience with financial institutions, catering companies, restaurants, manufacturers, service businesses, architects, grocery stores, universities, garden centers, craftsmen, performers, cable companies, and publishers. To reflect a client's unique message, my work varies substantially in style from fun to cutting edge. Here are just a few samples:

CLIENT: Dahlmann Properties

CLIENT: Katzingers Deli

CLIENT: Cleary University

Cleary University came to me to design their annual auction black tie fundraising event. My ability to illustrate the desired theme and to complete the project all the way to layout quickly allowed them to get the invitations out on time.

From illustration to design, I have experience in all phases of what is required to sell the public. This illustration was done early in my career for a newspaper ad advertising the designer. It shows my loose illustration style, also used in architectural renderings.

CLIENT: Savarino Properties

This rendering of houses to be built in Ann Arbor was done first as a pencil sketch and then finished in photoshop. The style is loose, yet finished and allows for alterations to be made to the final design if needed.

CLIENT: J. Charles Nyers, Inc.

Designed as a monthly newletter, the graphics were an integral element in the piece. Customers came to anticipate the newsletters because of their graphic content as well as the information. This work won an Addy Award.

CLIENT: Texscan Corporation

An inside sheet of Texscan's annual report demonstrates both photography and graphic skills.

CLIENT: Ann Arbor Symphony

As designers, we are often given graphics that are difficult to use. In this case, I altered the background on the performer's photo to provide space for the message.

CLIENT: Jiffy Mix

Jiffy Mix wanted to tell the story of their family owned business with a book.
I used their iconic box design as the cover with some clever text on
preparation for reading and use on the spine.

CLIENT: Kerrytown Market & Shops

CLIENT: The Produce Station

The Produce Station offers high end, unique merchandise you won't find anywhere else in the area.
I wanted to reflect this with a new logo design, and retro graphics.

CLIENT: Ann Arbor Observer

The Guest Guide is a coffee table book that has a two year shelf life in hotel rooms in the Ann Arbor area. For each issue, I prepare the layouts, take photographs, and design the look of this upscale hard cover book.

This kiosk was designed as part of the Observer's "Arborweb" site graphics. It was created, along with several other 3D graphics to enhance their web site and to facilitate navigation. The kiosk is clickable in four areas to lead you to different areas of the site.

CLIENT: Sleeping Bear Press

I do a substantial amount of book design and illustration. This book was illustrated for Sleeping Bear Press.

CLIENT: Clark Architecture

Several of my clients are from outside the Ann Arbor area. This client is based in Washington DC.
She needed a web design that reflected her wide range of design styles from traditional to modern.

CLIENT: Rotary Club

The Rotary Club came to me to reduce the size and number of pages of their annual report- close to 20 pages originally. Even though we kept a good deal of text, the graphics are still strong and engaging to the reader.
